Meet the Herd
Risha & Andrew
Beach Barn’s co-founders
Risha has been working with horses for the past 30 years in various professional and personal capacities. Growing up through the ranks of the Canadian Pony Club, she has a strong foundation in stable management and has trained and competed in both English and Western styles across multiple disciplines. She believes in establishing a solid foundation for young riders and horse care providers based on understanding basic principles and building effective methods.
She is a non-clinical Equine Therapy Practitioner, providing educational and personal development coaching. Combining her training and lived experience she help clients become more aware and grounded in their everyday lives through working with horses. Also a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Nutrition Coach, she uses a simple and effective approach to setting and achieving healthy goals and supporting clients to build a more balanced relationship with food and nutrition.
Andrew built the barn, mends the fences, does the majority of the trimming… and after all his chores are done he spends his “free” time driving and towing logs with Olive, and enjoying the horse life (even more than he’ll admit)!
Laptop has been a Beach Barn Boy since 2021 and with Risha since 2014. He is a 16.2hh Hanoverian gelding who is trained and highly skilled in dressage. Laptop is now semi-retired, enjoying light recreational riding and helping Risha raise baby Luna into her next superstar.
Luna is the newest addition to Beach Barn, joining Laptop and Olive in the spring of 2025. She is a Canadian Warmblood filly, turning 2 in 2026. Luna is learning basic groundwork skills and exploring the world under the care and attention of her Beach Barn handlers and wise mentor, Laptop.
Olive joined Laptop on our property in 2022. She is a 18.2hh purebred Percheron mare, now 7 years old. Olive is very versatile and has been trained to ride and drive. She is currently working on her dance moves under saddle.
